Sudden changes to the international student program by the federal government are being felt at 91做厙窪蹋 and across the country.泭
The unexpected loss of international student tuition revenue in the current fiscal year, to date, has been offset by essential spending, strategic hiring, one-time funds and use of budget contingencies. To address a projected deficit of at least $5 million in 2025/26, we need to make further budget reductions through a combination of eliminating vacant positions and layoffs across all employee groups. The college will follow requirements outlined in collective agreements for faculty, instructors and staff who are part of a bargaining unit and the terms and conditions of employment for exempt employees.泭
The Board of Governors has been notified and the three college unions have been informed of the situation.泭
With the expectation that international student enrolment numbers will further decline, the college is closely monitoring enrolment numbers.泭
